The first Maritim Hotel to be located in the state capital and, at the same time, the largest congress hotel in North Rhine Westphalia, has been opened in December 2007. Significantly more conferences and large events will be held in the Düsseldorf region with this new Maritim Hotel, bringing additional business and buying power into the region. There are already enquiries for beyond the year 2010.

The architecturally sophisticated building complex is designed with a triangular pedestal structure which is cut across by a corridor extending from the new terminal building. This corridor connects the departure level of the airport to Airport City and is accentuated by the flanking six-story building, where the hotel rooms are located. The striking solitary building block thereby will create the joint between the terminal building and the Airport City. The façade is characterised by the use of aluminium, glass and natural stone.
